Inam

Inam is an Tamil movie written, directed, filmed and produced by Santosh Sivan. The story revolves around a group of teenagers in an orphanage set during the civil war in Sri Lanka. The film premiered at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival. Story The story opens with routine investigation Sugandha Ram (Rajini) uncovers in the narration of Rajni on what happened to her during the last stages of war in Srilanka. Sunami Akka (Saritha) gives hostage to children of various age groups who have lost their parents to the bombshells and gun shots of the warin Srilanka. She along with a teacher Stanley (Karunas) and his family feeds them and teaches them all that is required to make a living.  Nandan (Karan) is a specially challenged teenager joining the group of orphan children fed by Sunami akka. Nandan starts liking Rajni while the latter develops a love for Ravi. Ravi is one among a group of teenagers raised within Sunami Akka's camp who are drawn towards the war by rebel groups. During the critical stages of war, she separates the children into small groups and sends them to safer places and eventually loses her life to a gunshot. Most of the people were caught by army, rest of the story says Whether they escape from the there and sufferings of innocent Tamils during the final stage of Srilankan war Sivan spent months researching and getting footage for the film. He shot it in Tamil as Inam but also made the film into English for a larger audience and titled it Ceylon.
