Kappal

Kappal is an Tamil film directed by Karthik G. Krish, a former assistant of Shankar. Produced by I Studios Entertainment, the film features Vaibhav and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles, while Arjunan and Karunakaran appear in supporting roles.  Stroy Five little friends take inspiration from an elderly figure to never part ways. They take the oath under the condition that they will not get married at all - for the fear that a girl might break their friendship. They grow up, and continue to follow the same principle, except Vasu, who doesn't want to give into this humbug, yet does so for the sake of friendship.  At a point, he escapes to the city, on a mission to find a girl for himself. VTV Ganesh plays the character of a ‘half’ gentleman, who helps a desperate lover boy. But he fails to calculate what might happen when these buddies discover his affair. What really happens, is the story of 'Kappal'. Karthik Krish, who had apprenticed under director Shankar in Enthiran (2010), wrote the comedy script and had hoped to sign either actors Sivakarthikeyan or Jai for the role, before selecting Vaibhav. The film began its shoot in March 2013 with scenes shot in Chennai with the lead cast. Initially Ashrita Shetty had signed up to portray the film's lead actress but delays meant that she was replaced by newcomer Sonam Bajwa. Natarajan Sankaran replaced Santhosh Narayanan as the film's music composer. In April 2014, the film began another schedule with the director remarking that Vaibhav's character in the film would have shades of the role portrayed by Karthik in Mani Ratnam's Mouna Raagam (1986). After a successful screening in September 2014, director Shankar bought the film and made plans to release it, marking a comeback to film production after a four year hiatus.
