Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam Review
Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam is an tamil movie direction by Parthiban. The movie first look was announced on the stage of 100 years cinema clelebration.
The project stars an all new cast in the lead roles along with several experienced actors in cameo roles and becomes Parthiepan's first directorial film in which he does not feature.
The movie story is set in the Tamil cinema backdrop Tamizh (Santhosh Prathap), plays a youngster who wanted to be a film maker. He has a group of youngsters with the same motive and discusses lots of story lines for their feature film. This group also has a senior member Seenu (Thambi Ramaiah).
This film doesn’t have any story, but it’s all about the passion of Tamizh to create a story for his feature film with an interesting climax, it can be also said as no climax. Deshika (Akhila Kishore) plays wife of Tamizh does a decent job and nothing worth to be mentioned.
Daksha wants to see Tamizh as a filmmaker but at the same time, she is also wary of reality of daily life.
Will Tamizh and his team be able to find a story and script? is rest of the story to be watched in big screen.
The film, which has a tagline reading "a film without a story", began production in late 2013 and will release in 2014.
Parthiban and his films can sometimes come across as oversmart, and being quirky just for the sake of being so. But in Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam, this oversmartness and quirkiness lend freshness to a regular one-line plot. The film proudly wears these two elements on its sleeves and feels fresh and zany.
The film moves forward and backward, sideways and at times even nowhere but the writing is quite good that we are always clear where it stands. Even when it is aimlessly chugging along, you feel that the movie is going somewhere.
It is a proof of the confident writing that even though the stories in the film aren't resolved the film feels complete when it ends.
Ra.Parthiban’s Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam has justified the tag line it carries along. Yes, this movie doesn’t have a story to say. Parthiban is known for his experimental stories and screenplay work, he has shown another unique way of screenplay presenting.
Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam has couple of catchy dialogues and few scenes can be enjoyed, but as a whole movie, only a set of people can enjoy not for all classes.
Verdict - Out of box attempt. Watch it if you like to take risks!!
KTVI as demonstrated in the trailer is about a bunch of creative people who want to make it big in the film industry. In a way, it is cinema within cinema.
There is almost a mini army of established artists in the film in the form of Prakash Raj, Vishal, Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Amala Paul, Cheran and Taapsee. Of these, Arya and Amala Paul’s roles are more than a cameo.
Verdict: Sharp dialogues, wit, Thambi Ramiah and screenplay experimentation make KTVI a good ride.
