Kolamaavu Kokila Review
The film's storyline is indeed an interesting one and the events that lead the characters to it are equally interesting. Director Nelson who himself has scripted the movie has given due consideration in establishing the characters in a proper way.
Nayanthara is fabulous in the role of Kokila. She has played her role according to requirements of the character. At times, she underplays her role and even then she makes a big impact with her minute reactions and expressions.
Kolamavu Kokila is high on entertainment quotient with comedies that work out big time coupled with the thrilling moments that it has to offer.
Director Nelson has attempted something different and the outcome proves that he has worked so hard in paperwork to convert this differently conceptualized script into a believable mainstream product.
Anirudh’s music stands tall as the pillar of strength for this film, his songs have given the reach, they are enjoyable along with the progression too.
An entertaining crime comedy-drama which is worth watchable for its comedy moments and for Nayanthara.
Nayanthara steals the show with her mannerisms, dialogue delivery, and screen presence. She dives courageously into her role, sacrificing vanity and pride to play Kokila with dignity and innocense.
Yogi Babu has been used to please the gallery and he does his job neatly. Saranya Ponvannan has done an impressive job but her mannerisms have become predictable these days.
Kolamaavu Kokila review: Verdict Watchable dark comedy
Director Nelson has managed the right play of emotions by underlining certain scenes and being subtle about others. For instance, this film has an iconic scene where Yogi Babu’s Sekhar proposes to Nayanthara’s Kokila.
Kolamaavu Kokila proves what spectacular writing can achieve. What could have otherwise been macabre becomes a great piece of black humour.
Kokila is from a middle-class family. Her father is a security guard at ATM who allows her daughter to discuss personal problems at the workplace. Her sister is a college goer and her mother strong-willed practical housewife.
We have seen Nayanthara as a protagonist role in 'Aramm' but 'Kolamaavu Kokila' is different.
