Megha is an tamil romantic thriller movie written and directed by Karthik Rishi, a former associate of Subramaniyam Siva. The film produced by Albert James, Co-produced by S. Selvakumar under the banner GB STUDIO PRIVATE LIMITED. The film features Ashwin Kakumanu and newcomer Shrushti in the lead roles. The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by Maestro Ilaiyaraja.
Ashwin Kakumanu is playing a middle class city boy and newcomer Shrushti plays the heroine while Jayaprakash, Ravi Prakash, Naren, Meera and Nithya make up the supporting cast in this Chennai-based story.
Ilaiyaraaja reportedly appreciated the director for the screenplay and has composed some extra ordinary numbers for the film. It is said that Ilaiyaraaja himself has sung two songs in the film and Yuvan Shankar Raja has rendered two songs. The film started its shooting in September 2012, is currently in its post-production stage. Audio release was held on August 24th at O2 Arean, London during Ilaiyaraaja's concert and music received good response.
Megha, the debut directorial vehicle of Karthick Rishi, starts off intriguingly in a hospital at wee hours with a badly injured hero Ashwin entering the premises.
A hero as a ballistics expert in the Forensic Science Department is quite new to Tamil cinema but this interesting professional expertise has not been put much into use in the story.
Verdict: Good music and camera work isn’t fully utilized to narrate a story
Megha with relatively less known actors and a debutant director Karthik Rishi was in news even before its release, courtesy Maestro Ilayaraja’s superb songs.
However, Karthik has churned out a decent thriller with Ashwin Kakamanu who did the second lead in Idharkkuthaan Aasaipattaya Balakumara and new girl Srushti playing the lead roles. Undoubtedly, Raja once again rules the roost.
Unconventional story telling pattern is bit confusing
