Ratsasan Story

Ratsasan is a Tamil action, mystery movie, directed by Ramkumar of Mundasupatti fame. The cast of Ratsasan includes Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul, and Ramdoss in the lead roles. An aspiring filmmaker Arun (Vishnu) wants to make a movie on a serial killer, but turn a cop due to family pressure. Arun's uncle (Ramadoss) also a cop who worked with his father and guides him in the department. Later Arun gets into the case of a girl murdered in an extremely unpleasant manner and Arun finds out that the murder could be connected to a previous murder. He starts the investigation of the serial killer, where finds very fewer clues from the serial killer. What happens next? Did he find the killer or not, is the rest of the story to be watched on the big screen.

Vishnu Vishal has transformed himself into a very responsible and matured actor. He has toned his body well and so has done the same with his acting skills, and it looks like there's great improvement in the same. Director Ram Kumar needs to be given a centum for his vision, scripting, creation and overall hard work. There is nothing to be taken away from him apart from certain glitches which can be excused. With its engaging narrative pattern and performances, Ratsasan has indeed hit the bulls-eye.

Ratsasan is one of Vishnu Vishal's career best as he looks super fit, confident and carries the role with ease and conviction. Amala Paul as a school teacher who later falls in love with the hero is apt but she has nothing much to do as the talented actress makes an entry at regular intervals. Ramadoss as Arun's uncle is very good.

Performances are natural in this psycho crime thriller. Vishnu Vishal gives his heart and soul for Ratsasan and his genuine approach towards the character is seen. Never ever does Vishnu go overboard to showcase the mass of a hero, rather he stays true to his characterisation. Watch 'Ratsasan' for the structured and engaging screenplay that makes it an intense psycho thriller.

The film is very well made and keeps us hooked till the interval point. Its screenplay makes it look very convincing. Vishnu is in super form and proves that he can be good in a serious role. Amala Paul makes a breezy appearance as the hero’s love interest. There are two songs but they are confined to the background.

The story of Ratsasan is tautly strung. When the police figure out there’s a serial killer on the prowl, Arun, who’s an underdog, persuades them to take an unconventional route. This sets the pace for a cat-and-mouse chase that’s extremely well packed. The Ratsasan in the film could have had better make-up and this shoddy detailing brings down the excitement of the big reveal.
