Sangathamizhan (2019)(U/A)

Sanga Thamizhan offers nothing new in terms of storytelling and screenplay but Vijay Sethupathi makes us sit throughout the film mainly because of his dialogue delivery.

There are many letdowns in the film and the most tiring is the way the film takes the audience for dumbheads and simply throws up one cliched scene after another.

Sangathamizhan does take its own time to get to its core plot, but until then, it is Vijay Sethupathi and Soori who provide us with humour and hold our interest.

A favourite ploy of filmmakers from the 1980s and 1990s was to have the hero play two different characters that merge in the climax with a long drawn out explanation.

There is, however, one feature of the film that I found mildly entertaining. It is not a Vijay Chandar thing. It is a Vijay Sethupathi thing.
