Savarakathi (aka) Savarakkathi is a Tamil movie direction by G R Adhithya, a former associate of Mysskin. The movie has Mysskin, director Ram and Poorna in lead roles. Despite the eccentricities, Pichai is the only character that is multi-dimensional. Ram lends an air of authenticity to a character that is uniquely at odds. Pichai wants to be a superhero to his children but needs the help of his son for basic math.

Savarakathi works to a large extent due to its quirky theme and presentation, including the realistic ending. The film has the Mysskin touch and is an adequate answer to his critics who feel that he cannot make a film which has humour built into it. The film belongs to Poorna who is outstanding as the fully pregnant woman, who has to suffer due to the foolishness of her husband.

Mysskin comes somewhat close to this kind of cinema in Savarakathi, aided by his brother. As the ruthless Manga, Mysskin out on a day's parole from prison, clashes with a foolish barber, Picha (Ram), as he rides his rickety motorbike with his heavily pregnant wife, Subhadra (Poorna), and two young children to attend the marriage of his physically challenged brother-in-law. However, the second half of Savarakathi had my attention wavering, and I think Mysskin's script here veered into the pathos, and I could see that he had clearly run out of situations.

Behindwoods

Delivering fine performances, both Ram and Mysskin bring their excellent acting skills to the fore. Shamna gets a solid role and does her part well. The film is high on commotion and chaos, and a comic element is infused into almost every serious scene. The makers must be commended for a screenplay with no songs until the climax. On the whole, this Savarakathi may not be thoroughly sharp, but it definitely has its high points. Verdict: A Mysskin-esque roller coaster of chaos!

The plot revolves around Manga, a thug, who is out on parole for eight hours and Pitchaimurthy, a barber who lies through his teeth. When Manga and Pichai accidentally cross paths, it doesn’t end well for both of them. Mysskin as Manga is mostly over the top and at times annoying, but only someone as eccentric and equally brilliant as Mysskin can write such a character.
