Chennai (UNI): Popular film actor Kamal Haasan called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence here today. Though the meeting was termed as courtesy call, speculations were rife that the actor might have sought Mr Karunanidhi's help for early release of his much awaited movie Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. Despite completion of the film a couple of months ago, the movie was yet to be released for various reasons. Later, Mr Haasan told newspersons that it was just a courtesy call.

'Since, I was abroad during the elections and returned only recently I could not meet him,' Mr Haasan said. He said he also thanked Mr Karunanidhi for reducing the rent for shooting in places owned by the state government.
