Abhirami Ramanathan gets Vel right for 1.5 cr.

The distributor for Shivaji in Chennai City Abhirami Ramanathan has bagged the rights of the Asin - Surya film vel for the Chennai City area for 1.5 crore rupees. The film will be released in theatres along with GV Films. The same partnership saw the successful release of Shivaji.

Ironically, the fee that he bought the rights for is Rs. 65 lakh higher than the previous Asin, Surya film Ghajini. Director Hari, who has directed Vel, last directed Thamirabarani. Hit pair Asin and Surya come together again for this film.

Talking about the films rights, he said, "I hope the film gets a good opening. I have decided to form a partnership and get the rights of future films along with GV Films." Vel is scheduled for a September release.
