'Rajini emperor of Indian Cinema': Karunanidhi

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr.M.Karunanidhi said that superstar Rajinikanth rules the (film) industry like an emperor and has placed his name strongly in the Indian History like the other two Shivajis. Speaking at a function organized at Kamarajar Arangam to mark the record run of Chandramukhi, The Chief Minister said that Rajini is humble in spite of his success.

Excerpts from CM M.Karunanidhi's speech:
"I have immense pleasure to felicitate our superstar Rajini for his success in Chandramukhi. I saw his Chandramukhi today. The reason is nobody invited me for the screening! But I hope that they would call me one day to view the film. Because I know that Chandramukhi is not a film worth for just a week or few months. It is a film worthy to run for years. So, I have been waiting with a hope and finally my hope has not gone vain. Today, I saw the movie. I really enjoyed it. Every actor has contributed well to the film. There is no need to say about the superstar. He is the power of the story.

I would like to remember our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's honour to Rajinikanth. He mentioned in his speech at the Japanese Parliament that our superstar Rajini is the most powerful actor not only in India but also in Japan too. When I heard the Prime Minister's speech, it gave me utmost happiness.

What is the secret behind the success of Rajini? His style, energetic action or professional ethics. Above all, it is his humbleness. He is not carried away by victories. Everybody knows that he is the sole personality behind the success of his films. But he is always humble. Because of this nature, he has got a permanent place in the hearts of the people. This is the success of the superstar.

I have been maintaining a good relationship with Rajini for more than two decades. But it is not revealed very often. It is just revealed like a light at once. But our bond is always strong and powerful.

There are three Shivajis in the history of India. Samrat Shivaji - The Great is the one who proved braveness of Indians to the world. The next one is Shivaji Ganesan, the doyen of Tamil Cinema. The Third one is our superstar Shivaji Rajini. He is the emperor of Indian Cinema and has registered his name strongly in the history of India. Today, I am very much proud to say that he is the face of Indian Cinema in the overseas.

Rajini is a great man with all good qualities. He is a flawless personality. One should learn a lot from him. I have gone through the success reports of the superstar's new film Shivaji in domestic and abroad. I'm the first person to enjoy the success of our superstar. I hope and wish that Shivaji also reach a new high in the history."

Earlier, Karunanidhi felicitated Rajinikanth with a Golden sword. Sivaji productions partners actor Prabhu and Ramkumar have arranged the function jointly with the Tamil Film Producers' Council.

The President of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce KRG, Film Producers' Council President Rama Narayanan, veteran Film Director K.Balachander, actor Kamal Hassan, Sridevi, director P.Vasu and Rajathi Ammal are the others in the gathering.
