Actor - director Cheran's forthcoming films are in trouble. After the classical hit of his Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Cheran has been signed for 2 projects. One is Aadum Koothu, directed by the famous Malayalam director T.V.Chandran in which he plays the lead role and the other Maaya Kannadi, a Panju Arunachalam produce, written and directed by Cheran. He is playing the lead role with Navya Nayar as the heroine in both the films. According to sources Navya Nayar partly financed Aadum Koothu..

Aadum Koothu was completed, ready for release in last October itself. But director Chandran had sent it for National awards committee immediately after censor. Cheran as a creator by profession wanted to give a fine shape to the film. T.V.Chandran who does not support this view, adamantly wants to release the original version without any corrections, simultaneously in Malayalam as well. At the same time the award committee did not recommend this film for award in any section. Cheran now objects to releasing the film in Tamil Nadu.

Maayak Kannadi is already scheduled for Deepawali. Cheran made a promo of the film for Jaya T.V., and the same has been telecast. But now it is questionable whether the film would be released next Deepavali. When we start our enquiry, many facts came out. Panju Arunachalam, the producer of the film is in financial trouble. He had produced a film Kadhal Samraajyam with Agathiyan 5 years before. But the distributors rejected the film after the preview. Since there was no other way to release the film, Panju dropped his idea of releasing the movie. He lost around Rs. 2 Cr in this fruitless project. After this disaster, he produced a film Solla Marantha Kathai with Thankar Bachaan and introduced Cheran as a hero. This film however did not help Panju come out from the crunches. Finally he approached Cheran and requested him to do a film for him. It was titled as 'Touring Talkies' and then changed to Maayak Kannadi after the objections came from PMK. This film costs around Rs. 5 Cr. After seeing this film, distributors were doubtful about its commercial success. So Panju requested Cheran to release the film at his own risk. Due to this deadlock, the release of the film has been delayed. The correspondent met Cheran on Friday. After listening to everything, Cheran replied, "There is no need for giving a reply to every rumour about my films. I'm confident about Maayak Kannadi. But don't ask anything about Aadum Koothu."

Cheran also gave a new explanation to his relationship with Navya. "Navya is an excellent actress. I have never found such an actress before. When a teacher meets an outstanding student, he would love to promote them as much as possible. I'm also in that teacher's position. But there is some rubbish talk about our relationship.
