Doctorate for Vairamuthu

Vairamuthu is one poet who has reaped the honors, awards and rewards of his career as a poet and continues to do so.

For his very first novel 'Kalli Kaattu Ithihasam' he won the Sahitya Academy Award. Recently he was honored by the Kannadigas.

It is reported that the Tamil Open University is also going to honor Vairamuthu with an honorary doctorate degree, at the awards function to be held in Chennai. The Tamilnadu Governor will confer this honor on Vairamuthu, for the services rendered to the Tamil language.

Viramuthu is well versed in Tamil and speaks in chaste Tamil. But we have one doubt. After the doctorate, how will he call himself?

Will he be Dr. Vairamuthu? Or like the PMK chief, will he be Maruthuvar Vairamuthu or Munaivar Vairamuthu?
