Finally
Kamal
Hassan
has
won
the
legal
battle
against
his
latest
magnum
opus
Dasavatharam.
The
Madras
High
Court
today
lifted
the
interim
stay
on
the
release
of
the
film.
Senthil
Kumar,
an
assistant
director
from
Tambaram
claimed
that
the
story
of
Dasavatharam
was
originally
created
by
him
and
the
same
was
illegally
copied
by
Kamal
Hassan
when
he
showed
the
story
to
the
actor
in
his
office.
He
demanded
credits
for
the
story
from
Kamal,
and
asked
for
his
inclusion
in
the
Dasavatharam
crew.
But
Kamal
categorically
denied
all
his
allegations
and
refused
to
even
see
him.
Immediately,
Senthil
Kumar
moved
the
Madras
High
court
and
filed
a
case
against
Kamal
and
Oscar
Ravichandiran,
the
producer
of
Dasavatharam.
The
court
had
sought
a
reply
from
the
actor
and
the
Oscar
Films.
In his reply, Kamal stated that it was totally false on the part of the plaintiff to say that, Dasavatharam is a story which was completely borne out of my imagination and creative thinking", he stated. The Judge asked both of them to submit their stories in a sealed cover to the court. Kamal and Senthil had submitted their script to the Judge a few days ago. On Tuesday, the case came up for hearing before The Judge Ramasubramaniam at the Madras High Court. After a close scrutiny, the Judge announced that they were two different stories without any similarity between them. He ordered the lifting of the stay on Dasavatharam's release.
This verdict has infused a new sense of zeal in the crew. Due to this litigation only, the shooting of Dasavatharam had slowed down, and the release was postponed for July or August. They are just waiting for the lifting of the interim stay. Now everything has been cleared, and the director will gear up with the entire team to finish the work much before the schedule planned earlier.
Dasavatharam is being produced by Oscar Ravichandran, featuring Kamal Hassan in ten different roles. The movie is being directed by K S Ravikumar. The release of the film is expected in the middle of June.
