Chief Minister M Karunanithi has agreed to set up a world-class music university in Tamil Nadu to preserve traditional music and cultural values. He had announced this after Maestro Ilayaraja made this request at the launch of Uliyin Osai (The sound of chisel). The film is being made on the story 'Sarapallam Samundi' written by the Chief Minister in the 60's. Vineeth plays the lead role after a hiatus from Tamil movies. Keerthi Chawla is the heroine and Sarath Babu plays in a crucial role.

The film was launched on Saturday morning at Prasad Studios in Chennai, with Chief Minister Karunanidhi himself being present on the occasion. Ilayaraja is the music director of the film. At the function, he made a request to the chief minister to set up a Music University in the state. The CM readily agreed to the maestro's request and said such a university would be of use to the entire world. The Maestro also rendered a song written by the chief Minister at the function, before he started his speech.
