Priyamani refuses village based roles

Actress Priyamani said that she will no more play village life based roles. The film Paruthiveeran brought the spotlight on her - in which she played a village girl. She has instructed her manage not to get her roles that are folk/village life based.

Priyamani made her debut in Tamil movies in veteran director Bharathiraaja's film Kangalal Kaithu Sei - in which she played the role of a more modern girl who has a lavish style statement. The film didn't do her enough wonders and her Tamil movie career slumped.

She was given a opportunity to make a strong comeback in Ameer's Paruthiveeran - role which she got by her good fortune She allowed director Ameer to mould so that her role would be appealing to Tamil audiences. After Paruthiveeran turned out a success, the light turned on her. But she started getting choosy with the roles that she accepted after the film success. Her only confirmed new film is Malaikottai with action star Vishal

She said: "I'm a modern girl. My upbringing has been in urban areas only but the success of Paruthiveeran forced all the directors and producers who offered me roles offered roles in which I would have to wear a half saree and skirt. I have realized now that I must be grateful to Ameer for restarting my career but it will be a bad step for me to play similar roles repeatedly. I don't want to play a role similar to Muthazhagi again.

She added, "I have heard more than a dozen offers and their stories but they all entail village girl role. Different from them all, Malaikottai is a different kind of a story. That is the reason I accepted the films offer. At present, I have one Tamil film and one Telugu Film. At this stage of my career, I'd rather emphasize on the quality of films that the number of films that I do." A good plan of action, that is!!!
