Sathyaraj to receive Periyar Award

Every year, numerous awards such as Bharatidasan Award, Thiruvika Award, Periyar Award, and Ambedkar Award are given to personalities who had worked for upholding the ideals of poet Bharathidasan, made contribution to Tamil language, worked for social justice and worked to abolish of social evils.

Now, the state government has announced the names of those who will receive these awards. K.Chellappan will receive the Bharathidasan Award, the Thiruvika Award will go to writer K.Thirunavukarasu and Ambedkar Award will be given to Dalit Panthers supremo Thirumavalavan and Sathyaraj will receive the Periyar Award for donning the lead role in the biographical movie Periyar for free. Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi has announced that each of the awardees will receive one lakh rupees in cash and a gold metal.
