The Dr. MGR University which is run by former MP AC Shanmugam has announced that it will honour two of Tamil Cinema's top personalities - and Shivaji director Shankar. The University said that they were given the degrees because of their immense contribution to the Tamil Film Industry. Vijay is the most commercial hero at this point in time in the Tamil Film Industry after Superstar Rajinikanth and actor Kamal Hassan. Shankar, known as the king of grandeur, needs absolutely no introduction.

It can be recalled here that Jeppiyar, the founder of Sathyabhama University – a former AIADMK functionary, has had given away such honorary awards to six film personalities. On the list are Kamal Hassan and Sathyaraj. He has vowed to give away 100 such awards in the future. Are Shanmugam and Jeppiyar are collaborating on these degrees? What do you think?
