Shivajis grandson's wedding: a starstudded Show

It was a "starlit" marrige for Vikram, grandson of Shivaji Ganesan and son of actor Prabu with Lakshmi Ujjaini, daughter of Dr.Mathivanan. The wedding was held at Rani Meyyammai Hall at Egmore on Monday. Almost all the leading stars from Indian filmdom and political personalities had attended the wedding. The muhurtham was held at 6 am. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanithi was the one of the first ones to arrive earlier along with the Superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, who was accompanied by friend Gowthami and daughter Akshara. Telugu megastars Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Jagapathi Babu and Mohan Babu also attended the wedding. Surya came with wife Jyothika and blessed the couple.

However it was at the reception luncheon that Bollywood made its presence felt. 'Big B' Amitabh Bachan attended the reception at around 3 pm and shared some unforgettable moments that he shared with the late veteran Shivaji. Actress Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor also came to the reception and blessed the couples. Director Rajkumar Santoshi came in the late afternoon and stayed right to end of the reception. The others who participated in the reception are - Ajith, Shalini, Vijay, Roja, Thrisha, Vikram, Bakyaraj, Director Bharathi Raaja, Mumtaz, Meena, Sangeeta, Perarasu, Vijay Kanth. Very few stars from Kollywood were not present.

The celebrations on Sunday evening saw a host of celebrities including The Union Ministers EVKS Ilangovan, Palani Manickam, Tamil Nadu Local Body Minister M.K.Stalin, Thol Thirumavalavan, Sarath Kumar - Radhika, Kushboo, Vadivelu, Tabu, playback singer Asha Bonsle, veteran actress Manorama, Latha, K.R.Vijaya, Lakshmi, Ambika, Sukumari, Producer Kalaipuliu S.Thanu. Singer Hariharan and Drums Sivamani entertained the guests while Prabhu and his wife Punitha, Ramkumar&Kamalammal were perfect hosts.

What was a surprise was the absence of former Chief Minister and close relative of Prabhu family Selvi Jayalalitha to this wedding. Many have expected that she would attend the function on Sunday itself (mappillai azhaippu). But she was not present. Prabhu's family was waiting for Jayalalitha with much anticipation in the afternoon reception. But nobody has came even represent to her. Prabhu and his family were waiting for her to turn up.
