Journalist drowned at Marina beach

The City police found the body of 28 year-old journalist from Kerala at Marina beach on Friday morning.

According to the police, he was drowned on Thursday while swimming. The victim was identified as Shyam Parakkel from Palakkad. He worked as a staff correspondent for English daily The Pioneer, based in Kochi.

He came to Chennai to see one of his journalist friends. "He had left for the beach on Wednesday evening from K.K. Nagar and did not returned," the police informed. The body was found on the Marina beach on Friday morning.
