Directed by Shankar and produced by AVM Productions in Tamil, Sivaji was launched on December 13, 2005. The movie has Rajnikanth and Shreya playing the lead roles in the film. The film was being shot for over a year. The post-production works are going on at the moment. Rajnikanth's fans have already had printed banyans with the Sivaji printed on them and are selling them. The proceeds will be donated to orphanages and voluntary organisations. Now the producers and the director are in a dilemma and are seriously debating over the issue.

The World Cup 2007 in March and the beginning of examination season is making them rethink the release date. The exhibitors are sticking to the release date on Tamil New Year's Day. Already the film was sold at a fancy rate of Rs 3.10 crores in Kerala. In Telugu too, Bellamkonda Suresh also offered a fancy rate for the dubbing rights of the film. It is learnt that Suresh is planning to release the songs of Telugu version on March 15. One has to wait and see whether Sivaji would hit the screen on April 14 or not.
