The
South
Indian
Artists'
Association
(Nadigar
Sangam)
has
begun
a
series
of
celebrations
to
commemorate
the
75
years
of
Tamil
cinema.
The
events
kicked
off
in
Singapore
on
Monday.
Sarath
Kumar,
president,
Nadigar
Sangam,
inaugurated
the
celebrations
with
a
special
screening
of
the
all
time
superstar
of
Tamil
cinema,
MGR's
blockbuster
movie
Nadodi
Mannan
at
the
Golden
Village
Cinemas,
Singapore.
The
other
programmes
lines
up
during
the
festival
are:

Ratha

Oruthalai
Raagam,
16
Vayathiniley,
Soorya
Vamsam
and
Shivaji.

Programme
coordinator

in
a

yesterday,
"The
global
celebration
of
Platinum
Jubilee
year
of
Tamil
Cinema
will
continue
with
a
schedule
of
star
nights
and
celebrity
dinner
month-by-month
spreading
around
different
part
of
the
planet
.
Replicating
the
success
of
Singapore,
the
retrospective
of
Tamil
Film
along
with
a
Star
Night
will
be
conducted
in
Malaysia
during
September
2007.
Arrangements
are
going
on
for
a
mega
Star
Night
in
Singapore
during
October
2007
and
another
Star
Night
in
the
US
during
November
2007.
The
same
kind
of
events
have
also
been
planned
in
the
Gulf
countries
and
Europe
during
December
2007.
A
grand
gala
cultural
event,
which
will
be
the
final
event
of
the
Platinum
Jubilee
Celebration,
will
be
organized
in
Chennai
"the
home
town
of
Kollywood" during
January
2008.
Needless
to
mention
that
this
show
won't
be
a
mere
dance,
music
and
masala
event,
but
will
be
a
memorable
one
that
reiterates
the
history
and
heritage
of
Tamil
cinema's
past
75
years".
