After the 3rd partition in AVM last year, M.Balasubramaniyam, the younger brother of AVM Saravanan wanted to make a film individually with any one of the leading heroes in Tamil. P.T. Selvakumar, PRO of Actor Vijay approached Balu, when he came to know of this and assured him that he would get Vijay for his maiden project. Balu happy with the turn of events immediately appointed Selvakumar as the PR for AVM Productions (Balu group) and fixed a hefty amount as salary. This took place in last February.
After a few weeks, Balu himself came forward to sponsor a Shobha Chandrasekar's (Vijay's mother) music programme and released her music album "Aanaimuganum Aarumuganum" through his AVM audio. Balu did this only to please Vijay and get a positive sign from him. But nothing happened. Months passed by. AVM sources say that Vijay avoided Balu whenever he approached him for a discussion. Eventually the actor agreed to act in a film for Balu but did not fix any date for that. Vijay would like to remake the Rajni starrer super hit movie Murattukkalai. But the right for that film is now with A.V.M. Balasubramanyam (AVM Saravanan gave away the rights of all AVM produced movies till the partition, to Balu). Therefore it is also said that Vijay accepted Balu's first project of only for this reason.
Even for the big producers, getting Vijay's call sheet is not as easy as it was in the past. Appachan, the producer of Friends with Vijay - Surya combination, had waited for nearly 3 long years to get his approval for the recently announced Azhagiya Tamil Magan. He had paid the advance amount of two crore to Vijay at the release time of Gilli. At the same time Sangili Murugan, the veteran producer who had given a new lease of life to Vijay in film industry through his Kaadhalukku Mariyatha, has also requested Vijay to do a film for his Meenakshi Arts Banner. But Vijay informed that he had received the advance from Appachan. A.M. Rathnam, who had given a mega hit for Vijay, when he was in a critical stage after consecutive flops, is also waiting for Vijay. Though many times he had been to Vijay's Neelankarai residence and requested him for dates there has been no positive reply as of yet. There are some more production houses awaiting Vijay's call sheets. Chandamama Vijaya Combines, Super Good Chowdary, A.M.Rathnam, Prakash Raj, Serene Movie Makers, Kavithalaya are among the few in the queue!
Currently Vijay is enjoying his American trip with his favorite heroine. After his return next month, he would be busy shooting for Appachan's Azhagiya Tamil Magan. After this film, he has planned to act in M.K.S.Udhayanithi's, (son of Minister M.K.Stalin) maiden venture. If Balu is lucky enough he might get Vijay's dates in the year 2008!
