Producers' Council to charge for trailers

By By: Settu Shankar

The Tamil Film Producers' Council has declared that hereafter all the Television and cable operators except for 6 channels, must pay Rs.1 lakh to get a film's songs, scenes clippings and trailers.

These six channels are Doordarshan, Kalaignar TV, Sun TV, Jaya TV, Raj TV and Zee TV. These channels have been regularly buying channel rights of new Tamil films. So the council has decided to provide all the necessary clippings of a film to them, free of cost. Other Channels must pay the amount fixed by the council.

Also all the cable TV operators running their own local channels have to pay this rate to the council.

The new policy is to be implemented by the council right from today itself.
