8 Films are confirmed for Pongal Race!

There 8 films are confirmed their birth for the prestigious Pongal 2008 race. The harvest festival in Tamil Nadu starts on Jan 14 and lasts till 17th. It is considered as the biggest opening season for Tamil Cinema.

There are 8 big films going to participate in the battle this year. Here is the short synopsis of those films:

Bheema-Director Lingusamy: Bheema has been censored with an A certificate and is all set for release on Jan 14th. It is the most anticipated film as Vikram is having a release after 2 years and the songs of Harris Jayaraj are already in the charts. Trisha is his pair and Rathnam is the producer.

Thangam-Director Kichaas: Satyaraj's Thangam has Megha Nair in the female lead and has Goundamani the yesteryear comedy superstar back of sorts. Satyaraj plays as usual village do-gooder role and the film is directed by Kichas with music by Srikanth Deva.

Palani-Director Perarasu: Bharath's Palani is a sort of an important film for the young hero, who is going through a rough patch. It is a full length action packed masala directed by Perarasu, who makes films for the mass. Kajal Agarwal is the heroine and Sakthi Chidambaran produces this film, which has music by Srikanth Deva.

Kaalai-Director Tarun Gopi: Simbu's Kaalai is one of the much expected films for this Pongal. Directed by Tarun Gopi, Vedika is the heroine and Nila plays the role of an item number girl. It is a mass commercial entertainer with GV Prakash's music.

Vaazhthukal-Director Seeman: Madhavan's Vazhthukal is directed by Seeman and has Bhavana in the female lead. The story is all about the importance of joint family system, relationships and promises to be a total family entertainer with songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Pirivom Santhippom-Director Karu: Pazhaniyappan. Palaniyappan's yet another family flick with Cheran-Sneha pair set against a Nattukottai Chettiar milieu.

Indiralogathil Na.Azhagappan.-Director Thambi Ramaiya: It is out and out a Vadivel film and the actor plays three roles first time in this film. Top actress Shreya did an item number with Vadivel for the film. Directed by Thambi Ramaiya, the film has music by Sabesh Murali.

Pidichirukku-Director Kanagu: Ashok, who made his debut in Muruga plays hero with Visaka as heroine. This film is directed by Kanagu an assistant of Lingusamy. Manu Rameshan is the music director.
