Prashanth to step into his Father's role

Malayur Mambattiyan is one of the real life Robin Hoods who lived in the dense forest of Salem - Erode area. In 1983 Rajasekar, a close friend of Rajini had made a film on the life of Mambattiyan with Thyagarajan in the lead.

The film became a block buster in the box office and also made Thyagarajan one of the popular heroes in Tamil. Even today, the film looks fresh with interesting twists and excellent musical score by Ilayaraja.

Now, in the era of remakes, the cult classic of yesteryears is to be remade with none other than Prashanth, the son of Thyagarajan. Sneha will essay the role of Saritha while Mumaith Khan will reprise Jayamalini's role.

According to the sources, Vadivelu too will play an important role in this film in which the script will be changed to suit today's audiences and their tastes. Official announcement is expected soon.
