Sarath Kumar, one of the top heroes in Tamil Cinema nearly for two decades and two-time MP, is trying to ride on two different horses simultaneously. That is the reason behind the floating of his new party Akhila India Samathuva Makkal Katchi, a Nadaar community backed outfit. But it is not as easy as the actor and others has calculated!
In Tamil Nadu, none has emerged as a successful political leader cum actor simultaneously except the legendary MGR. He was the only leader, who entered into politics when he was at his peak in career. He maintained his stature as an uncrowned emperor in Tamil Cinema till he crowned as the Chief Minister of the state!
Many actors like Sivaji Ganesan, Bagyaraj and T Rajender have entered into politics when they were in their peak time, but lost both cinema as well as politics and faded away from the lights.
But Vijayakanth case is quite different. He entered in to politics when he found that his cinema career was almost about to end. At present, there is no market for his films and almost all his recent films flopped in the Box Office. So Vijayakanth decided to concentrate his full attention in politics only.
But Sarath Kumar still considers cinema as his main profession and has also been continuing as the President of Nadigar Sangam. Will he become a full time politician?
"Why not… actually I'm a full time public servant. It covers everything! There is no need to close the windows of cinema and for me it is the very good medium to convey my policies and visions to the public. I'm not floating AISMK to just keep me in the lime light. It is my ambition to do something to the people of the state by using political powers. The political system in the state should be changed. Then only it is possible to change the status of the people." Sarath Kumar said after he returned from Madurai.
To prove his point Sarath is acting in 3 films, i.e., Vaitheeswaran, 1977 and an untitled film of Raadan simultaneously. Vaitheeswaran will hit the screens next month and he has lot of hopes on it for regaining his Box Office status, which he lost through a series of failures. He calculates that both the major parties of the state will invite him again to their party with powerful posting if his next film will turn well in the Box Office.
Sarath, therefore, is holding a mega meet of his still fledgling party, on Feb 10 in the temple town of Madurai, the constituency of the DMK's powerfull MK Azhagiri.
"I don't bother about the ends faced by my co-stars in the field. I'm always taking the successful career of Puratchi Thalaivar as a lesson for me and follow his foot prints. Definitely, I will keep both my cinema as well as political career as alive and successful. The people will take care of me." Sarath said hopefully.
His wife Radhika Sarath Kumar, the Chaiman and CEO of Radaan Media works, is the woman behind the AISMK gala show this weekend. She will light the traditional Kuthu vilakku to inaugurate the Conference on 10th.
Meanwhile, the buzz is that leading actress Khushboo will be expected to join in Sarath's party as the propaganda secretary at this function. Sarath neither denied nor accepted this rumour and said, "Just wait and watch! There are many surprises waiting for the press people to write about!"
In the invitation card printed for the conference, Sarath assures that he will get back the legacy of great leader Kamaraj soon. And in another picture, he vows that he too is heir to MGR's political legacy.
In a picture printed in the card, MGR is looking through a camera's viewfinder on one side of Sarath, flanked on the other side by the actor himself, looking through the camera's viewfinder, and says that both of their angles are the same!
Saying in Sarath's words, let us wait and watch!
