The Chennai Metro police arrested three people with 25,000 CDs of pirated Hollywood movies, including 5,000 pornographic films on Sunday, according to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai.
"We arrested a 40-year-old man, A.K. Singh, and two others after intercepting a consignment of 25,000 compact discs, which included 5,000 pornographic movies and latest Hollywood films pirated in China. Enquiries revealed that they were imported through New Delhi and were sent as railway parcels," Police Commissioner K. Radhakrishnan told reporters.
He also said that nearly 500 people were arrested in a special drive on the basis of a suspicion of anti-social activities.
"Surprise checks in small lodging houses resulted in arrests of over 500 persons, some of whom were known offenders. We discovered that arrest warrants had been pending against a few of them for over 11 years," Radhakrishnan added.
