got
the
Chennai
city
rights
of
the
Vikram-Shreya
starrer
Kandasamy,
for
a
whopping
Rs
4.01
crore!
Directed
by
Susiganesan
the
film
has
been
produced
by
Kalaipuli
S
Thanu.
According
to
the
box
office
sources,
it
is
the
biggest
ever
deal
done
for
city
rights
in
the
last
one
year.
In
2007
June
Abirami
Ramanathan
had
purchased
the
city
rights
of
superstar
Rajinikanth's
Sivaji,
for
a
record
Rs
6.7
crore
and
created
a
new
benchmark
in
Tamil
film
distribution
rights.
Also
for
the
first
time
Ramanathan
screened
the
film
in
more
than
18
screens
in
the
City
alone
and
got
back
his
money
with
in
50
days
as
planned
earlier.
Abirami
Ramanathan
says,
"I
think
Kandasamy
is
going
to
be
the
biggest
entertainment
of
the
year
and
definitely
the
biggest
summer
treat.
It
is
a
good
buy
and
I'm
very
confident
about
this
film."
The
film
is
likely
to
release
in
April
last
week
or
May
first
week,
depending
on
the
parliament
elections
which
are
due
in
April.
