The Animal Welfare Board Of India (AWBI) has issued a notice to ace director Mani Ratnam, demanding why he had not got the permission from them to use an elephant in the shooting of Raavan.
Yesterday an elephant killed its mahout on the sets of Raavan while shooting near Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala. The letter was sent to Mani based on the media reports about the incident.
In reply, Madras Talkies has said that it has got permission to use a cow, a dog, an eagle and an elephant for the shooting of the film.
At the same time it has explained that Mani Ratnam has not used the elephant in question, so far for the shoot.
Meanwhile Mani Ratnam and his unit left the Athirapally shooting spot in a hurry and is now in Ooty.
