Meena breathes life into Vengamamba

After being neglected by the leading actors in all the south Indian languages, popular actress Meena has shifted her focus to spiritual films.

Now she has signed the dotted lines to play the role of Tarigonda Vengamamba (devotee of lord Venkateshwara), the popular goddess in Andhra. The film was launched at a recent function at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad.

Vengamamba lived in the 17th and 18th centuries and was an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateshwara. Her writings, a good mix of revolution and devotion are popular in Telugu literature.

M.M. Keeravani is to score the music. Uday Bhaskar is the director. V Doraswami Raju, who has earlier produced films like Sitaramaiahgari Manavaralu, Presidentgari Pellam, Annamayya and Simhadri, is producing the film under VMC productions banner.

Saikiran, Sarath Babu, Sudha, Siva Parvathi, Ragini and Ashok Kumar are also in the cast.
