Renowned comedian Omakkuchi Narasimman passed away last night at 9:30 p.m. after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Saraswathi, three daughters and a son. Narasimman, one of the best comedians of Tamil Cinema, was a very noble man, who loved to keep his company happy and smiling, a character that made him a brilliant comedian.

Narasimman used to work with LIC but his interest in acting lured him to Kodambakkam. With his good sense of humour and experience of having acted in more than 100 plays, he soon became an indispensable part of Tamil movies released in the 70s; he was seen in almost every movie released in that period! The ensuing years saw Narasimman scale unprecedented heights – for a comedian – and become one of the most noted actors of Tamil Cinema.

In a career that spans more than three decades, Narasimman had acted with many famous actors including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, Indian, Suriyan and Mudalvan are some of the best remembered films of Narasimman.

Narasimman"s death is a huge loss to the film industry; he was a legend. Narasimman – a noble soul who toiled hard to put a smile on someone"s face – now rests in peace.
