Tamil New Year Day to be celebrated henceforth

It was decided by the Tamil Nadu Film Director Sangam to give awards every year to the best cast and crew selected from the four languages. The advisory committee meeting of this Sangam was held in a star hotel yesterday at Vadapalani, Chennai. Bharathiraja headed this meeting. R K Selvamani, the Secretary of the Sangam explained to the media about the decisions made in the meeting.

He said, “There are 200 members in this association. We have selected 125 directors to find out the modalities for the development this association. It has also been decided to give awards for the cast and crew of the best films of the four languages. This will into force from next year. It was also decided that to conduct cultural programmes every April to perpetuate funds for the development of the association."

“It was also decided to invite all the language directors to participate in this cultural function. They had also passed a resolution that Tamil New Year Day should be celebrated with pomp and gala," Selvamani added. S A Chandrasekhar, Vikraman, Ameer and Madhesh were present when Selvamani spoke to the media.
