Trisha's Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar

Finally, the dream comes true for Trisha... Yes, she is going to do her first Hindi movie with Bollywood's top hero Akshay Kumar.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is tentatively titled as Khatta Meetta and produced by Akshay Kumar under his own banner.

Trisha formally signed the dotted lines of the agreement recently and confirmed her role in Khatta Meetta.

According to sources, Trisha was the personal choice of the actor who saw a DVD of her Tamil film Abhiyum Naanum, before confirming her as his lady love.

Later, Trisha flew to Mumbai and met Akshay Kumar who was impressed by her and asked her to coordinate with Priyan. After Shahrukh Khan introduced Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om, and Aamir introduced Asin in Ghajini, Akshay has become the latest Bollywood hero to introduce a South Indian heroine to Bollywood.

Priyadharshan commented, "Trisha is playing the heroine opposite Akshay Kumar in this film. Akshay was keen on doing the film with a new face, that too from south and after seeing Trisha"s performance in a few South Indian movies, Trisha has become his only choice..."

It is real excitement time for Trisha. On her Bollywood debut, she said, "Priyadarshan is the person who has introduced me to films. Even after I completed Lesa Lesa, I was not of the idea of continuing my career as an actress. But Priyadarshan only guided me properly and advised me to continue. Now once again he is giving me a new dimension through his Hindi movie. I"m glad that Priyan has given me this opportunity and all I want is to go and do my best..."
