Just
like
many
filmmakers
have
started
focalizing
Madurai
as
backdrops
in
their
films,
director
Vetrimaaran
seems
to
have
moved
towards
the
same
pattern
too.
But
the
Vetrimaaran
exhibits
the
self-importance
of
this
film
saying,
“It
will
be
an
unusual
tale
of
Madurai
unlike
other
films
that
have
been
shot
in
the
same
place…"
'Aadukalam
centers
on
a
group
of
craftsmen
–
both
aged
and
young
cohorts
and
their
unique
lifestyles" adds
Vetrimaaran
as
he
assures
that
there
wouldn"t
be
any
hero-worships
and
usual
elements
of
love
and
action
in
this
film.
He
reaffirms
that
his
story
of
'Aadukalam"
can
be
made
only
in
the
backdrops
of
Madurai
as
it
would
offer
a
realistic
flavor.
“I
had
idea
about
making
a
film
based
on
a
story
in
North
Chennai,
but
had
to
keep
it
closed
for
time-being
as
my
debut
film
'Polladhavan"
too
was
set
in
the
same
locales"
tots
up
Vetrimaaran.
Prior
to
the
film"s
shooting,
both
Vetrimaaran
and
Dhanush
had
nearly
spent
a
year
researching
the
day-to-day
life
of
specific
group
residing
in
Madurai.
