Rohit Shetty to direct Singam remake

Rohit Shetty, the man behind the Golmaal trilogy, is going to direct the Hindi remake of Tamil movie Singam. He is planning to take a break from comedy series and has decided to direct an action-packed movie.

Singam remake will star Ajay Devgn in the lead role. He plays the role of a cop in the film, which was played by Surya in the original version. Rohit is yet to finalize the female lead. Sources say that the project will hit the floors in February 2011. Reliance Big Pictures is producing the film.

Surya and Anushka Shetty starrer Singam was written and directed by Hari. The movie also featured Prakash Raj, Nassar, Vivek in the key roles. It may be recalled that the film was also dubbed in Telugu as Yamudu.
