The
11th
International
Indian
Film
Academy
(IIFA)
Awards
2010
in
Sri
Lanka
has
lost
its
zest
at
the
very
outset
though
the
island
country
has
rolled
the
red
carpet
for
the
event.
The
Tamil
film
fraternity
and
many
Bollywood
actors
stayed
away
from
the
festival
following
the
Tamilians
protesting
against
the
choice
of
venue.
All
the
Tamil
film
personalities
including
big
names
like
Rajinikanth,
Kamal
Hassan,
Ajit,
Surya,
Vikram
and
others
have
decided
not
to
attend
the
function.
Mani
Ratnam
even
pulled
back
the
screening
of
Raavanan
(Raavan
in
Hindi)
at
the
festival.
Even
big
Bollywood
actors
like
Amitabh
Bachchan,
the
brand
ambassador
of
IIFA,
Shahrukh
Khan,
Abhishek
Bachchan,
Arjun
Rampal,
Aishwarya
Bachchan
and
others
are
not
attending
it.
It
may
be
recalled
that
the
South
Indian
Film
Chamber
of
Commerce
(SIFCC)
had
earlier
threatened
to
boycott
all
the
actors
who
attend
the
IIFA
awards
which
kicked
off
yesterday
at
Colombo,
Sri
Lanka.
Tamilians
alleged
that
holding
the
event
in
Sri
Lanka,
after
all
the
atrocities
meted
out
to
the
Tamilians
in
the
country,
would
give
out
the
message
that
the
island
country
has
returned
to
normalcy.
