Vijayakanth decides to fulfill MGR's dream

Tamil cinema lovers now have a reason to rejoice. Captain Vijayakanth has now decided to make Kizhakku Africavil Raju. The movie was actually the idea of legendary actor Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran more popularly known as MGR.

MGR had given Tamil film industry one of its all time box office hits Ulagam Sutrum Valiban on 1973. This movie can still manage to garner profits if it is put on re-run. Back then, right after finishing the filming of the movie, MGR had decided to make a sequel of it. He had also gone on to announce the title of the movie Kizhakku Africavil Raju. In fact, it is also said that he had gone location hunting in Africa.

But unfortunately, the movie was not made as MGR got busier with his political career. Finally, in 1977, when he became Tamil Nadu"s Chief Minister, he voluntarily retired from film making thus putting an end to the idea of Kizhakku Africavil Raju.

Now, after more than three decades Captain Vijaykanth has decided to make Kizhakku Africavil Raju himself. The actor is currently busy acting and directing Virudhagiri, which is to release later this year. Once he is done with it, he will start working on Kizhakku Africavil Raju from the scratch.

It is now almost a trend in Tamil film industry to repeat MGR film titles and remix his song. Now, we guess we will get to see some remakes of MGR films as well.
