SAC is Chief of Producers Council

Vijay"s father and filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar has been elected as the new president of the Tamil Nadu Producers Council. He has replaced Rama Narayan, who resigned overnight after the results of the general assembly elections.

Industry insiders say that the selection of the new president post has direct links with the results of the Tamil Nadu general elections. It is noted that Rama Narayan, who served as the Producer Council Chief for close to five years, was close to the DMK. His resignation reflects the very nature of the connection between the politics and the film industry in Tamil Nadu, it adds.

SA Chandrasekhar, who had differences with the DMK, chose to support AIADMK in 2011 polls. The filmmaker, who actively campaigned for the AIADMK along with Vijay"s fan club Makkal Iyakkam, is made the President of the Producer"s Council soon after J Jayalalitha"s landslide victory in the elections.
