Who's written script for Vikram's Karikalan?

By Ramchander

The principal photography and casting process have already given enough publicity to Vikram's upcoming film Karikalan. Especially, the first look of the movie followed by several snaps of the actor, which were published on newspapers, have drawn the audience attention. However, there were confusions on the original script writer of the film.

It was rumoured that the script was written by Gandhi Krishna of Ananda Tandavam fame. But his name was nowhere mentioned in the credits in the posters, which were released recently. It was said that debutant LI Kannan met the filmmaker to write the historical script and convinced him to pen the story. The former took eight months to pen the shooting script of Karikalan and sent it to the latter.

However, Kannan denies the speculations and claims that the entire script has been written by him. He says that the director met Gandhi Krishna before starting the scripting work to get suggestions on the subject. The story of the film is about Karikalan Chola, one of the popular Tamil kings of early Chola during the Sangam period.

Bollywood actress Zarine Khan is enacting the character of Velir girl. Radhika Apte and Mithra Kurian are also starring in Karikalan.
