Actress Karthika Nair, who recently acted in Tamil with KV Anand's movie Ko, is in race for the lead role in the Hindi remake of Ko. According to a source, the actress' mother Radha, the yesteryear actress, has met Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar, who has planned to remake Ko in Hindi, and has requested him to rope in Karthika for the role of a feisty journalist.
Film Ko was the first film for Karthika Nair in Tamil. The actress has played Renuka a.k.a. Renu Narayanan, a journalist, which was a better role for her. She has received rave reviews for her performance in her debut movie. Now, she wants to play the same role in the Hindi remake. Sources claim that Akshay Kumar has graciously conceded to her mother's request.
Akshay Kumar recently watched the special screening of the movie Ko in Mumbai and was impressed by the way KV Anand chronicled the life and times of a press photographer. He is said to have decided to buy the remake rights of the film and is currently in negotiations with RS Infotainment for the same. He is likely to produce the remake under his Hari Om Movies and his close friend Anthony D"Souza will direct it.
