Maverick
filmmaker
Mani
Ratnam
was
disheartened
after
his
much-discussed
Ponniyin
Selvan
was
dropped.
The
director,
who
was
wishing
to
come
out
of
the
failure
of
Raavanan,
got
a
big
blow,
when
he
was
forced
to
shelve
the
project,
as
the
expected
budget
reached
Rs.
200
crore
to
make
the
film.
However,
he
is
ready
to
put
all
those
memories
behind
and
gearing
up
for
his
next
project
with
none
other
than
Ajith
Kumar,
who
is
eagerly
waiting
for
the
release
of
Mangaatha.
Sources
say
that
Mani
Ratnam
has
recently
met
Ajith
Kumar
on
the
sets
of
Billa
at
Ramoji
Rao
Film
City
in
Hyderabad.
They
discussed
over
two
hours
and
it
is
believed
that
they
talked
about
joining
hands
for
the
first
time
after
the
the
actor
finishes
the
current
project.
They
looked
positive
at
the
end
of
the
meeting,
add
reports.
Mani
Ratnam
visit
to
Billa
2
sets
took
the
unit
members
by
surprise.
It
is
because
the
filmmaker
usually
never
goes
to
an
actor's
place
to
discuss
about
a
film
rather
he
calls
him
to
his
office.
Except
Kamal
Hassan,
the
Roja
director
has
not
visited
any
actor
till
date,
concludes
a
source.
Other
details
about
the
project
are
yet
to
be
revealed.
Meanwhile,
Ajith
Kumar's
Mangaatha
is
all
set
to
hit
the
screens
on
August
31.
The
actor
is
busy
in
the
promotional
activities
of
the
Tamil
film.
