Mani Ratnam chooses Mysore Palace for Ponniyin Selvan

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is shaping up well with every passing day. The director, who was busy selecting cast and crew for the film all these days, is now finding out suitable locations to shoot the film. Latest, we hear is that the director has chosen the Mysore Palace to shoot the film.

According to reports, Mani Ratnam has written letter to the concerned department seeking the permission for the film's shooting. The director has requested the permission to film some key scenes during October and December. It is also said that art director Sabu Cyril will erect the same kind of sets in Kanjipuram.

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam has signed Vasanth of Saththam Podathey fame to assist him for script writing. The pre-production works are in full swing and the movie is expected to hit the floors in October 2011.

Actors Vijay, Aarya and Mahesh Babu are playing the lead roles in the historical movie. Anushka Shetty will play the female lead in the screen-adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 'Ponniyin Selvan'.
