Speculations
are
rife
that
Mani
Ratnam
has
opted
Ilaiyaraaja
over
AR
Rahman
for
his
next
film,
which
stars
Vikram
and
Mahesh
Babu
in
the
leads.
They
are
joining
hands
again
after
two
decades.
Since
Roja,
Rahman
has
composed
the
music
for
all
Mani's
films
and
together
they
have
worked
in
over
10
films.
Now,
the
latest
reports
say
that
the
director
has
chosen
music
maestro
Ilaiyaraaja
for
his
period
film,
which
is
the
screen-adaptation
of
the
Tamil
historical
novel
'Ponniyin
Selvan'
written
by
Kalki
Krishnamurthy.
Ilaiyaraaja
has
also
scored
Mani
Ratnam's
first
10
directorial
movies
like
Anjali,
Mouna
Ragam,
and
Nayagan.
His
last
movie
with
Mani
was
Rajinikanth
starrer
Thalapathi
in
1991.
However,
the
mega-budget
movie
is
produced
by
Sun
Pictures
and
other
details
about
the
film
are
still
under
wraps.
