After going through several troubles at the eleventh hour of its release, Silambarasan's Osthi has got a flying start at the Box Office. The movie released on December 8 has managed to attract the masses despite getting mixed reviews.

Osthi hit the screens on December 8 with a lot of hype. The movie did not release in as many theatres as it was announced before due to some trouble between the makers of the film and the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association (TNTOW).

However, it was sorted out by Friday and Osthi was released all across Tamil Nadu on Friday. According to trade reports, the Tamil movie received 75-80% occupancy on the second and close to 90% in weekends.

Osthi is a remake of Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg. The Tamil version directed by Dharani features Richa Gangopadhyay, Sonu Sood, Revathi, Ganesh, Githan Ramesh and others.
