A
family
court
has
dropped
the
curtain
on
Prabhu
Deva
and
Ramalatha's
16-year-old
relationship,
as
they
have
been
granted
divorce.
As
expected,
the
court
delivered
its
verdict
yesterday
(July
7).
The
court
announced
the
judgement
after
Prabhu
Deva
submitted
a
request
letter
for
an
early
verdict
recently.
On
June
30,
the
actor
and
Ramalatha
failed
to
turn
up
for
the
hearing.
As
a
result,
the
family
court
adjourned
the
case
till
July
10.
However,
two
days
later,
the
actor
submitted
a
letter
to
grant
him
divorce
before
July
7,
as
he
would
be
going
abroad.
As
per
the
agreement,
Prabhu
Deva
has
paid
Rs
10
lakh
towards
her
permanent
alimony.
He
has
given
her
a
house
in
Anna
Nagar
and
two
cars.
He
has
also
transferred
a
piece
of
land
to
his
two
children.
They
will
be
in
Ramalatha's
custody
and
the
choreographer-turned-director
will
be
bearing
the
expenses
of
their
education,
marriage
etc.
However,
the
ex-couple
agreed
in
the
court
that
they
would
not
make
any
claim
in
future
against
each
other
on
maintenance
and
property.
Prabhu
Deva
and
Ramalatha
tied
the
knot
in
1995
as
per
the
Hindu
custom.
It
may
be
recalled
that
their
divorce
drama
opened
up
after
the
choreographer
admitted
openly
on
his
affair
with
Nayantara.
Later,
Ramalatha
moved
court
requesting
to
restore
her
conjugal
rights.
In
December
2010,
they
filed
for
a
divorce
by
mutual
consent.
