Ravichandran

passed
away
on
Monday
(July
25)
night
after
being
treated
at
a
private
hospital
for
past
10
days
for
kidney
related
issues
and
lung
infection.
His
condition
worsened
two
days
ago,
as
he
was
not
responding
to
the
treatment
and
he
was
on
a
life
support
system.
He
is
survived
by
his
wife
Vimala,
daughter
Lavanya,
and
sons
Balaji
and
actor
Hamsavardhan.
Ravichandran
was
born
in
Kuala
Lumpur,
Malaysia
and
did
his
schooling
there.
He
came
to
Tiruchi
for
his
Pre
University
education
and
went
to
Madras
to
pursue
medical
education
but
the
destiny
had
some
thing
different
in
store
and
took
him
to
film
industry.
He
made
his
debut
with
Kaadhalikka
Neramillai
in
the
year
1964,
which
also
featured
TS
Balaiya
and
R
Muthuraman.
The
runaway
hit
of
the
comedy
film
brought
him
under
the
limelight
and
fetched
him
many
more
films.
Later,
he
went
on
to
act
with
legendary
actors
MGR
and
Sivaji
Ganeshan.
His
notable
hit
films
were
Adhey
Kangal
and
Utharavindri
Ullevaa.
In
his
later
part
of
his
career,
he
was
seen
in
character
artist
roles
in
the
films
like
Rajinikanth
starrer
Arunachalam
and
Kamal
Hassan's
Pammal
K
Sambandam.
His
last
film
as
an
actor
was
R
Kannan's
Kanden
Kadhala,
where
he
portrayed
the
role
of
actress
Tamanna
Bhatia's
grandfather.
He
also
wore
director's
cap
by
launching
his
son
Hamsavardhan
as
an
actor
in
2005.
