Why Surya skipped CCL inaugural match?

Fans of Surya, who were waiting to see their star at the inaugural Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) T20 match at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, were disappointed after the actor failed to turn up. It left the audience wondering and they were waiting till the end hoping he could make it at least during the presentation ceremony. But little less they knew that the actor gave a miss due to his son's birthday.

Surya and Jyothika organized a small party on the occasion of their son Dev's first birthday at a private resort in Chennai. He had informed the team and the management about his absence. But he played the second match against Karnataka Bulldozers, which was held in Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.

However, the birthday was attended by their close relatives and friends from the film industry. Ajith Kumar with his wife Shalini, directors like Bala and Hari, producer-cousin Gnanavel Raja and others were present at the occasion.
