TN Govt bans filming at historical places

In a bid to protect the historical places, the Tamil Nadu government has banned the shooting of films at the cultural monuments of the state. It has prohibited the filming in more than 85 iconic landmarks, including Thirumalai Naicker Mahal.

The Govt decided to enforce the law after it received a complaint from the archaeological commissioner that giving permission to shoots at the invaluable masterpieces have resulted in at the damage of most of the cultural monuments. He alleged that the people, who shoot films in these locations, are not maintaining cleanness and their presence is disturbing the tourists.

In his letter to the TN Govt, the archaeological commissioner had also sought immediate action from the governing bodies. Agreeing his views, tourism secretary VK Jayakodi implemented the new law by permanently banning the shoots in the protected monuments.
