the
race
for
Mani
Ratnam's
next
film
Ponniyin
Selvan.
The
ace
director
is
considering
one
of
them
for
the
key
role
in
the
mega-budget
film.
Mani
Ratnam
has
already
roped
in
Vijay
and
Mahesh
Babu
to
portray
the
roles
of
Vandiyathevan,
Adithya
Karikalar
from
the
historical
novel.
Now,
the
director
is
hunting
for
the
title
role,
Ponniyin
Selvan.
The
title
is
the
sobriquet
given
to
Rajakesari
Varman
aka
Arulmozhi
Varman
for
one
of
the
greatest
emperors
of
the
Tamil
Chola
Empire.
Sources
have
said
that
the
director
is
keen
to
cast
either
Vikram
or
Surya,
as
he
thinks
that
one
of
them
can
perfectly
fit
the
bill.
However,
The
movie
is
the
screen-adaptation
of
the
Tamil
historical
novel
'Ponniyin
Selvan',
which
was
written
by
Kalki
Krishnamurthy.
Ilaiyaraaja
will
be
scoring
the
music
and
it
will
be
produced
by
Sun
Pictures.
